Ethical, Sustainably-Minded Clothing
The fashion and textile industry is one of the most pollutant and abusive industries on the planet…and it doesn’t have to be. Every fashion company has choices it can make in every step of production that will mitigate the impact of clothing production on the planet and the harm to its workers. Those choices aren’t always easy, especially when they sacrifice profit or require additional effort. But we know, like you do, that our collective human impact on mama earth is untenable, and it’s well past time for companies to step up with responsible practices.
The very first decision our founder, Flora, ever made at Estella Moon was to base our entire approach squarely, entirely, wholly in the realm of ethical, sustainably-minded clothing. After years working in conventional fashion, she had seen firsthand the extraordinary amount of waste in the production process – and so she set out to discover what could be done better. Yes, she wanted to create for moms, but she also needed to create in a way in which both she and her customers would have confidence as globally-minded, caring-a-whole-lot-about-the-next-generation citizens.
So, what does ethical, sustainably-minded mean? We acknowledge that any effort to create new clothing has an impact, and that as a small, just-getting-started company, we won’t be perfect. But what we can do is to make sure that every decision we make is the better option for planet earth and for the people who work anywhere on our clothing’s supply line.
